Stuff

Today I was going to post a link to an awesome website that let you listen to almost any song you could think of for free, it worked when I was at school, but not when I got home... It was taken off the site, I was sad :( So anyways, today I saw this thing where these guys hacked the new upgrade for the PSP, pretty cool. I also noticed that now on Video Google, while you are watching a video clip, there is a bar on the right where you can easily download that clip primarily for your computer, your Video iPod or your PSP. Very convenient.

The Dark Side

Yes, it's true. I have made the final move over to the dark side. Today I purchase a computer from Apple. It wasn't as far a leap as you may think. Do I make my living off of Micro$oft? Sure. Do I spend a large part of my day looking at a start menu? Sure. But I've spend more and more of my time in "other" OS's. Linux, BSD, and a few other NX's. Since OS X and Apple's move towards a unix type OS I've given them much more respect and a second look they probably deserved. I currently own three iPod's that I am very happy with. That and the move of the iMac to a intel chip was just enough to push me over the edge. The iMac went on sale yesterday and today I got one. Well I don't have it yet, but it's on it's way. I expect to have it in hands in a week. Well I guess time will tell.

The Gaurdians

So the other day, me and a few friends of mine were playing Halo 2... It was all fun and games, I was winning by a significant amount. But then I stumbled across an odd glitch... I was playing on a certain level, right, well, there is this bridge on this level. It is broken up in the middle, some beams laying around and a giant piece of the bridge out in the open. I was just messing around, and I jumped onto this piece of the bridge. Directly infront of me, there was a wall to a building, right, well there was also a window that looked easily accessable. So I ran full speed and jumped at it, hoping I would safely land inside and go pwn some people. I hit a spot just above the window and fell straight down, then I hit the bottom edge of the window on the way down. This made me land on the ground a few feet away from the wall, everything was fine and I didn't loose any health. But then it happened, I was sucked inbetween the wall and the ground and fell into an infinite abyss. Text appeared at the top of the screen and it said "Killed By The Gaurdians". Freaked me out... I had never experienced it, but it supposedly happens quite often when you get into very weird scenarios. Two of my friends were attacking each other (melee attacks), and died at the exact same time, neither of them got credit for the kill, yet once again the Gaurdians struck and the text reappeared. That was my experience with the Gaurdians.

Christmas Stuff

The other day was Christmas, yay! I got a video iPod and I couldn't be happier. I also got a dart board with high quality accessories. I got a sweatshirt, two shirts (thanks to ThinkGeek.com), some funnyTeeth things, a blanket and some speakers the can be used for any thing that uses ear/headphones. I am very greatfull and I thank all to those who have participated in the festivities of the holidays.

Crazy Luck

I have had amazing luck lately... I haven't been on the computer for a couple of days, so I couldn't really talk about it then. A month or so back, I had won one of those contests that you can find when you go and buy a bottle of coke... They say 1 in 12 win a free 1-Liter of coke. So anyways, a month or so ago, I had won one of these competitions after trying about 20 times or whatnot. Three days ago, I had gotten a bottle of coke from the CircleK or something to that extent, and I won again... I knew something was going on, but it could just be the miracles of Christmas, because two days ago (Christmas) my mom's boyfriend (name's Ed, real nice guy) and one of his kids went to go get some drinks. They got me a coke and I won again! Three times, almost in a row, but I haven't won since then (granted I've only tried once more, and Jarrett actually opened it before I did).

My findings

Funny war created all out of ASCII characters (mostly)... These are some pretty sweet iPodNano cases (1 & 2)... In game footage of Unreal tournament 2006... A man who dove to earth from 30 km above earth's surface... A video created for IBM showing the effects of the powers of ten....

Gatowag Tip of the Day: Get the game GUN. It is very good, got it the other day and I'm a fifth of the way through it. It's a good buy...

Nice Win

Had a pretty nice poker hand tonight online. It was in a $.50/$1 game. I caught my third jack on the river to beat two pair A's and 10's. Not bad since I started the evening out with only $12. Here is the whole hand.

M$ Vs. Google

So here lately I've been messing around with Micro$ofts Local Live stuff. It's kind of like Google Maps. It has this very cool "Birds Eye" feature. It's definatly something that I really wish Google had. Other than that they are pretty close to the same. There are good things about both. I did notice something interesting the other night. On populated urban areas M$ seems to have the most up to date pics. On the rural areas it's definatly lagging behind. Below is an example.

This is a pic of one of my childhood homes via local.live.com It's near Sharon, OK. You can notice that everything that I remember seems to be there just as it should.

This is a pic of the same location using maps.google.com You'll notice that everything I remember is gone. There is also a new large building on the site.

The BLiNDpod

I have had an iPod Shuffle, or as I call it the "BLiNDpod", since April of this year and I feel that I should tell you a little bit about it. It looked like a great addition to the other iPods, until you really got to experience it. I must admit that it is better than nothing, although it is worse than anything else. Next year, it is said that a new version of the Shuffle will come out. Being as small as a stick of gum, and coming in a variety of colors, including the newly introduced black. This is kind of cool in all, but it is still a shuffle, and that is where it falls short... The shuffle is completely operational, to it's fullest extent. There is not a screen on it! That leads to many problems, but more on that later. There are only three modes...
PLAYLIST mode: Songs play in the order in which you arranged them on the computer. There is nothing to it, it plays ABC or 123. Nothing new here...
SHUFFLE mode: Songs play in a random order. This is good if you only want to listen to any song on the playlist and you don't really care. If you want to listen to a specific song, you probably won't find it here.
OFF mode: This is probably one of the best modes, it has to be in atleast the top three in my opinion. Songs don't play at all.
Anyways, there isn't a screen. This is a big problem because if you actually want to listen to one specific song, you must go to playlist mode and click the "next song" button a lot, or go to random mode and hope that you can get close, then switch to playlist mode and go on from there. For example, I have my songs listed in alphabetical order according to the artist name. In order to get to any Def Leppard song, I would have to start at the beginning of the playlist and press the "next song" button 50 times before getting there. And you can't just click this button that many times, because you have to wait until the song actually starts before you can proceed. This meaning that if you went to the next song, it would delay for a few seconds, within that time you could have pressed the button a few more times, although the delay makes the extra clicks irrelevant, as for it is lost within the transaction towards the next song. With a screen you could merely scroll through the artists and the songs and be there in a matter of seconds. This is especially of importance when you want to listen to a podcast. Podcasts have different effects on you than songs do. Podcasts are things that you would normally just listened to once, then disposed of, while songs will normally be listened to time and time again. This is evidence that podcasts have a different effect than songs do on people, so in this sense, you can be in the mood for songs or in the mood for podcasts. Therefor, if you have anything, I can't really recomend the BLiNDpod, but if you don't and you don't want any podcasts, it couldn't hurt. It is not expensive and it is small, so it can be lost easily, although it can comfortably fit anywhere.

Christmas List

It is getting kind of late, but for those of you last-minute shoppers who might want to get me a gift or recommend another of getting me such a gift I have compiled a list for YOU. I don't want much, but what I do want is nice... For one, I would like a Wacom pad (or a product of similar function)... For two, I would like an iPod (not a SHUFFLE) but I would preferrably want a Video, although if not, a Nano will do just about the same (any color is fine with me). By the way, I will be entering a contest soon, which will be over on the 15th, that will give first place a Video iPod and second place a Nano iPod... For three, I would absolutely enjoy having a PSP. That would be very cool... For four, I would like a XBox 360, although because of the them being so rare to find at a reasonable price, I would consider this gift a little out of the picture (but it sure would be nice).

Gatowag Tip of the Day: If you have two moniters, there might be the day where you will need to switch the moniters. Then you need to setup your displays correctly as to not be disorriented. Although some of you might run by an error... Once you change the moniters, you might have had one application opened on a moniter, but since you changed it, the app. goes to a screen that you can't see anymore... This is easily fixed. You can go down to the task bar, right click on the tab that represents the app. Now look for the move option and click on that, your cursor will change it's appearance and it will move to the far end of your moniter. Now just press one of the directional arrows and the application will automatically attach itself to your cursor. Now all you have to do is move the cursor to where ever you want the app to be placed at and click your mouse to let go of it. Problem solved!
