Happy Birthday to Me….

Yes, it's that time of the year again. Another year older. This is starting to become a habbit. Anyway, I decided that this year I'd do just what I wanted. So I figured I'd take it easy. So this morning I slept in until amost noon. Then I got up and played a few video games until the race came on. After that I played a few more games and then went to Outback for dinner. I got Ice Tea, no lemon, the prime rib, medium, with steamed vegtables and a salad. Hummmm... actually that sounds just about like every other day in my life. Maybe things aren't so bad after all. :)

Protected: That bitch…

So Carol called the other day. Geez she's got a lot of nerve. So she called my cell phone. I didn't answer cuz I didn't know what to say to her. I wanted to hear her message so I'd have a plan as to what to say. She left a message wanting to pick up her mail. Mind you she hasn't lived here in over a year. I'd been throwing most everything that came away. I'd hold on to it for a month or so, but if you haven't needed it for over a month then it needs to be thrown away. Then last night she has her son call. If you are having problems with me why would you put him in the middle of it all. I talked to him and was perfectly nice. I just think that's pretty shitty haveing him call me like that. I'd never put Brandt in that position. Anyway, I guess that's just how she is.

It was just a matter of time…

I know that some people out there may poke fun at me, not anything new about that, but it looks like I'll be buying a Mac. I was leaning that direction when Apple made the move to Unix, now they are headed to the Intel world, I have to switch. Everybody has known for the longest time that the only reason I have windows is for gaming. I'm about 95% a Linux guy. Now with the possibility of having a proven OS in OSX and the ability to dual boot into the "evil" windows world for a quick game, means only one thing. I gotta have one. I know Apple stuff is notoriously overpriced, but at the same time it works. Windows can't say the same. It still may be more than a year before I give myself the go ahead and it won't happen before the actual switch, but this entry just serves as a heads up to Bill that I'll be leaving now.

UPDATE: Here's the video to prove it.

Meany, Meany

So, once again I've been called a meany. This time it comes from a VERY reliable source so I have to take it seriously. I just want to state for the record that I'm not a meany. It may come off that way from time to time, but this is simply self preservation tactics kicking in. For much of my life I was taken advantage of or walked on. The last 5 or 10 years I have really gone outta my way to make sure that nobody got that advantage on me to step on me or hurt me. Sometimes these tactics come off as being a meany. I assure you, I in no way intend on being a meany on purpose. It just comes out that way.

Bike Night

So last night I did the bike night thing. We went out to Sonic in Garland. Hung out there for a couple of hours. There were somewhere between 250 and 300 bikes there. Parked right next to us was an original condition, and very much used, Triumph 750 Bonneville. I don't know what year but I'd guess it was a late 60's model. I'm thinking something like that would be great to have as a second bike to restore. After that we went out to Luna to watch the races, but for some reason there wasn't but about 40 or 50 people out there. I don't know if the cops had already been there or not. We decided we'd ride out to 30 and see if they were racing out there. There was only 4 or 5 people there so we just decided to head back to the house. In any case I got almost 100 miles in and the weather was just perfect for it. It was in the 70's by the time I got back to the house at midnight.

UPDATE: Here the pics

On an unrelated note, the other day I was nearly involved in a NASCAR style blow out on my way to work. I was in traffic behind this cement truck, as I ALWAYS am, and everything seemed normal. I was two or three car lengths behind him when all of a sudden, with out any warning his rear inside tire explosively blew out. It was very loud. There were things flying all over. For starters there was lots of dust and dirt blowing around since we were in the middle of a construction area. I couldn't even see the truck. I immediately jammed on the brakes cuz I didn't want to plow into the truck. I know I saw a large piece of hardened cement fly by, as well as one of the mud flaps. As the dust cleared I started see the real damage. The tire was completely missing, the tire next to it was still inflated but the rim was definitely bent as it was wobbling down the road. The mud flap was of course missing and the fender was just barely still attached and mangled beyond recognition. The water hose they use to clean up had been torn off and was being dragged behind. I couldn't tell but it looked like the chute the cement comes down was knocked off its hinges as well. Needless to say all he could do is stop and get out and look at it. At this point, let the traffic jam begin. I check out my truck and to my amazement I don't think I got hit by anything. It was just luck that there was no oncoming traffic either cuz that could have gotten real bad in a hurry. Anyway, that was my blow out story...

Six Flags

So yesterday Carol, Zachary, and I all went to Six Flags. It was a lot of fun. I haven't been able to spend time with Carol in a while so that was nice. It was about 253 degrees outside, but we still had fun. I normally hurt myself when I go places like that. Well this time I didn't do anything but tired and a little sunburned. All and all it was a pretty good time. I felt bad that Brandt couldn't be there, but with the timing and all it just didn't work out. Maybe I'll take him later before they close for the year. I'm sure he'd enjoy that.

Eat Parking Lot

I know, it’s been a while since I posted. Other than my amazing vacation I haven’t had a lot of things to say, good or bad. Well today was a little different.

This morning I came into the office a little early. I had a security meeting first thing and I didn’t want to be late. I went into Belinda’s office just to verify what the meeting was about so I could be prepared. While talking to her someone said “Who’s that looking at Greg’s bike?”. I don’t really know who said it but I do remember it being said. As soon as I look out the window I noticed two guys. One in a green shirt, the other in a red shirt. Both were white guys. It’s not unusual to see people out looking at your bike. That happens all the time. This was different. One was behind the bike a bit as if to jump on it. The other was doing something between the forks. It only took a split second for me to realize what was going on.

I ran down the isle and out the back door. I didn’t say anything to anybody on my way but by the time I got to the back door Mark was right behind me and Greg was just a couple of steps behind him. We ran full speed out the back door and down the hall. Mark and I went out the back of the building while Greg turned the corner and went out the front. This way if they ran that either of those two directions we’d have them. So out of the building we went.

As soon as we rounded the corner heading for the bike they noticed us coming and took off running. Greg and Mark chased the guy in the green shirt, I chased the guy in the red shirt. After a short distance they split up and the green guy headed for the parking lot while the red guy headed for an open field. I’m not exactly a world class track and field champion or anything so it didn’t take me long to figure out that I would never catch the red guy. I took notice of every thing about him I could and then headed back to help Greg and Mark. Greg had the green guy around the waist and Mark was punching and kicking him as hard as he could. The guy wouldn’t go down. When I got there I kicked his feet out from under him sending them all to the ground. He was continuing to fight back and attempt to get away. I , very carefully :) , stepped on his neck and head to pin him down so Greg and Mark could get a good grasp on him.

Greg finally got him in a pretty secure head lock. I piled on his lower body to hold him down. Mark then ran to get his car to chase the red guy. As he arrived with his car, Vernon had found his way down. They both jumped into Marks car and went to hunt the red guy down.

It was at this time, with both Greg and the green guy bleeding and tired, that I managed to get 911 on the phone. The only thing I could remember to tell them is our address so they could start to get the police headed this way, and the description of the red guy. I really didn’t want him to get away, but physically there wasn’t any way for me to get him. I stayed on the phone with 911 providing info for the 7 or 8 minutes until the cops got there. At one time during this “quiet time” the green guy kept saying he wasn’t going to run and we could let up on him. I sternly told Greg not to loosen a bit until the cops got here. He then said he couldn’t breath and was going to pass out. I told him that he put his self in this position and he needed to deal with it. Greg isn’t as much of an ass as I am so he said that he would let him breath a little bit but if he even moved the slightest that a world of hurt was about to come upon him.

The cops arrived and put another boot to the back of the guys head and jacked him up as they cuffed him. By this time of course all the fight was out of him and he was very cooperative. By this time Mark and Vernon arrived back at the office with no luck in finding the other piece of shit. The scene was littered with pieces of this guy. His hat was here, his shoe was there, and there were tools and wire cutters lying around as well. Nothing was touched to give the police the best chance at getting them.

We had to all give statements and finger prints were taken. They had noticed that we had taken it “lightly” on the guy. Last time they had said that if they were stealing our property we could do just about anything to protect it. They suggested beating them until we were tired. You may have noticed that I said last time. This exact same thing happened with Vernon’s bike two weeks ago. Except his had $2400 worth of damage done to it.
