A hour in the life of……

So many wonder, "Will, your an exciting kind of guy, what's your life like?" Well here's how last night went.

9:03pm..... Brandt and I have been listening to our MP3's on iTunes.... Listening to mostly to one of my favorite punk bands "Me First and the Gimmie Gimmies". That's right, I said it, punk band. So we started searching them out on the internet.

9:11pm..... We started downloading a couple of free sample MP3's from a site. We downloaded a song called "Science Fiction".

9:13pm..... As soon as we listened to this MP3 we realized we knew the song from someplace, but couldn't think of where. We tried to just let it go, but were unable to.

9:15pm..... At this point we are feverishly searching our minds for where we had heard this song before. Thinking, other bands, movies, TV shows, or little mechanical monkeys playing the tune out with their little cymbals, ya know, normal things like that.

9:33pm..... Finally, I remembered. It was either the opening or closing credits of "Rocky Horror".

9:36pm..... Still can't decide if it was the opening, or the closing credits.

9:37pm..... Now we are looking for my copy of RHPS. It's no where to be found. I know I burned a copy of it and there should only be a couple of places where it might be. The office area, or in my CD rack in the living room. Nope, neither.

9:45pm..... Still looking.

9:51pm..... Finally, I found it stuck with another DVD in the incorrect case. Ok, now we have the DVD. Come to find out it's not the opening OR the closing credits, it's BOTH.

9:52pm...... Now we start alternating playing them back and forth. Listening to one, and then the other. Trying to determine if they are the same. It's really hard to tell.

9:59pm..... Still trying to decide if it was the same song. It's not easy to tell. One is just about double speed the other. One punk, the other very smooth and middle of the road. So it was pretty tuff to tell, but after writing out all the lyrics they are the same song, just different.

That's one hour. We are a pretty exciting bunch of bachelors, aren't we? Now just multiply that by 23 and you have a day that.... ummmmm..... well, you have a day anyway.

Ever wanted to know how to write an essay, well I don't know the anwer to that but I do know how NOT to write one... Check it out.... Notice the different colors on the pages, the wide variaty of pictures, and I can't believe someone actually took the time to grade it. What's even scarier is that this person passed, sort of, with a "D". How's that possible. I should have stayed in school.

Site News

Today I wrote an IP tracker for the main page. It's mostly for educational purposes but does fill a glaring gap in my stats software. Right now it's only on the main.php page which is a frame on the index.php page. It basically tells you what your IP is, how many times that IP has been here, and when was the last time it was logged. Not very useful but still a valuable learning exercise.

New PHP Toys

I'm made some changes to my word famous backup tape management app. They were mostly internal changes, error checking and such. I added a memo field that follows the actual tape in order to track tape errors and things like that. Other notable changes are the addition of a jobstatus, jobtype and backup date fields. I have some other error checks I wanna put in, and to clean up some of the other maintenance features which aren't all that great just yet. Anyway, here's a link. Feel free to play with it...

I’m giggling like a little girl…

Dinner

For geeks like me, this is like a reunion of the Beetles or something....
Here's a link directly to the Audio. On one of the other broadcasts on Leoville, Leo makes reference to this dinner with Leo, Kevin, Pat, Roger, and Prager and makes some comment about their future! I wonder if that means anything or not. It sure would be great if it did. I guess only time will tell.

More Cams

So I'm still looking at these cams. Here's a interesting one I found. Bar Cam. It appears to be at a bar in the Neatherlands somewhere. It's definatly in the Central European Time zone. So if your in CST zone like myself you need to add 7 hours. BTW, the clock on the cam in 1 hour off. Daylight savings time is getting to them. So check it out during the day otherwise they'll be closed and you probably won't see much.

Normally a cam like this wouldn't interest me, but I just thought the waitresses were funny. They wear little skimpy bikinis along with theses great big furry boots. Understand it's the Neatherlands, you might want to keep your feet warm, but then you have the bikinis. I'd think you'd want to keep all the fun bits warm too! Anyway, just something to pass the time.

Dogs, dogs, and more dogs…

I was doing a little google searching, LINK, and I found that there are a lot of people that like watching their dogs....

Like 20 dogs in a room with a couch...
A litter of puppies. My how they grow...
Dogs in the driveway barking at cars...
Like 15 dogs sniffing some poor womans butt...

I'm sure there are many more cams out there like this, but there is only so much time in the day, and with Halflife 2/Battlefield Vietnam/Halo2 that leaves very little for searching for doggie cams....

UPDATE----------->>>>> Here's another google link for webcams... LINK

Comment Spam

This is just an FYI on the progress I've made on limiting or in this case apparently eliminating the comment spam. See start test here. Since I started this current comment spam test, 17 days ago, I have had exactly zero comment spams. Prior to that I had anywhere from 10 to 100 comments per day. Initially I combated this problem by moderating the comments. This meant that I had to go in and approve each comment daily. Even with the many WordPress spam plugins available I still had to put up with seeing the emails an occasionally they still made it through. This new method, although extremely simple, has apparently proven itself extremely successful. Basically these spam bots search blogs and determine what software they are using. In this case WordPress. The bot then knows that the comment post script is wp-comments-post.php or something like that. It then uses that script to post its spam. What I've done is to rename that script, then find and replace in the rest of the blog package code on that script name to the new script name. I know this isn't completely foolproof. All a bot has to do is to search the comment form for the post script in code and then post to that. But with all the other blogs out there with out any modifications I figure they'll just move on to the next one and leave me the hell alone. I hope anyway. Well, enough geek for today.....

Christmas List

So I've been asked to submit in writing a christmas list. Well I don't do list very well. Either I can't think of things to put on them, I don't follow them, or I lose them. Well anyway, this is my attempt at some sort of useful list.
