Oops, I did it again…

So you get in morning, your late, you push the boy outta his bed and haul him off to school. You finally make it work with all of 3 minutes to spare. As your walking into the building you realize that you've forgotten your sunglasses. Do you A: Turn around, drive home, get the shades and limp back in a hour and a half late? B: Whip out the spare rayban's in the glove compartment and finish out the day with your ability to deal with the sun only at half power. C: go ahead into work and hope and pray that it stays rainy an cloudy all day. Or D: go ahead into work and don't come out until it's dark outside.

You are correct. Knowing my bain for the sun and my abilty to being lazy I chose D. I just had someone bring be lunch and I stay at work until about 7pm. All was good and I lived through my crisis.

One…

Ok, I know it doesn't sound like a big deal, but it is. Today, just a few minutes ago actually, I tested my blood sugar. It was 111. That is only 1 from being what is often considered normal levels. I started a new medication yesterday. I actually think I had a low yesterday. I didn't have my test kit with me so I just had a candy bar and zing back up into the high levels I'm accustomed to. Today I monitored often. It was the best it's ever looked, ever!

Birds and Aircraft don’t mix…

So I'm out for a little local ILS training in X-Plane. I'm taking off to the south out of Addison (KADS) towards downtown Dallas. On take off roll I notice a large flock of birds dirfting towards the runway. Well, you know what happened next... Pictures below. Then with all the carnage out of the way I start a little practice. I'm flying ILS 15 at addision and what do you think I see on short final. Birds, this time I was able to execute a missed approach. I stayed in the pattern and landed with out incident. I parked it for the evening.

Just after take off and passing through the birds.

Still in flight after taking bird strike. Trying to acessing the situation.

After landing. Lost all engine power at about 50 feet AGL. Luckily I had about 80 KIAS.

Birds over threshold on short final. Declaring missed approach.

Another short final pic. Thinking of landing short. Ultimatly I continued to go around. Best choice I'm pretty sure.

Leo and the birds…

So here is the story of Leo and the birds. A few weeks ago I noticed that Leo would sit at the window and look outside. You open the door for him to go out, he wouldn't. Not during the day anyway. I noticed when I let him out in the evening, he was all crouched down and sneaking around. I thought this was strange.

One day he did manage the courage to go outside in the daylight. I immediately knew why he was such a scardy cat. There were two "Blue Jay's" I suppose, that were basically dive bombing him. Over and over. At one point they had him pinned down behind the deck. I went out to rescue him. They then proceeded to dive bomb me. I was a little bigger target and with the addition of a tennis racket a formidable opponent.

A few nights ago, I was out "swimming" in the pool about ten o'clock or so. Here comes Leo. I knew something was up cuz he was meowing very strangely. It was dark so all I could see was his shadow. Then a small portion of his shadow ran off trying to get away from the big part of his shadow. He proceeds to chase down the small shadow and bring it to me as a gift. A live, still squirming mouse that I will from here on refer to as the "Rat". He was pretty big. I splashed Leo back a bit. He played with him until all the "fun" was gone outta him. At which point I wrapped up in my towel and headed off to get the rat shovel for disposal purposes.

Two nights ago Leo was out late. I was on the phone. I heard Leo come in through his kitty door. Then I heard this same strange meow. I knew exactly what was up as soon as I heard that. I of course had to run through my emergency phone hang up procedures. I found he didn't have another rat but this time a bird. I didn't think much of it. I pried the bird outta his mouth and scooped him up with the rat disposal shovel.

Last night I called for Leo about ten times before I went to bed. He didn't want to come it or wasn't around. So I went to bed with him still outside. About 3am or so I got up and opened the door. As soon as i whistled for him he came a running. This morning I walked out on the back porch to check the pool water. What do you think I almost stepped on, another dead bird, or at least what was left of it. Once again the rat disposal shovel came to the rescue.

Now what I'm wondering, was this Leo just taking revenge on the bully birds? Maybe the rat was just practice.

Wow, that was quick..

So I play a "little" poker on PartyPoker. Well I used to anyway. I haven't played with my own money on PartyPoker in about a year. Just before christmas they gave me $25. The only catch was I had to play 250 raked hands to keep it. Well I did, and then more. Then in March they gave me another $25 with the same 250 raked hand stipulation. Once again no problems there. Long story short, I've ran this free $500 all the way up over $250, down to less than $5, and back again, at least a few times. A couple of weeks ago I lost about $100 one evening in hold em' leaving me about $25 or so. Well I figured it was free money so I'd just go loose it playing Omaha. That didn't happen, some how I held my own in Omaha. Well just a few minutes ago I figured I'd spend a little time in a $.50/$1 Limit Hold em' cash game. Three minutes, count them, THREE minutes is all it took for me to loose the final $25. Two bad beats in a row. I lost with a set of J's on the first and a boat Ten full of J's. I think that's enough poker for me. Well at least for today. :)

Would you sell your children?

So, I'm thinking of selling my TV. I know it sounds like a drastic step but the thought has crossed my mind. There isn't anything wrong with it. I bought it when I was in mourning over Rachel getting married. I think I'm over that now so It'll be ok to move on, with the TV that is...  :P It is a Sony 65" rear projection HDTV. I'd actually like to get something that takes up a little less room and that takes DVI or HDMI inputs. It's not like I could put this TV in another room and just buy a new one for the living room. Anyway, I'll think about it some more... Let ya know what happens.

Bad week

It's been a pretty bad week this past week. Work has been pretty shitty. I had a job interview fall through. My electric bill was nearly five hundred dollars. And on top of all of that, my girlfriend Lynda broke up with me, for reasons I still don't compeletely understand. So yeah, it's been a bad week. I know that things will get better. I don't know how, but I'm sure they will. Wish me luck....
